How To: Create your first slate

Once you login, you'll land on the canvas where an initial node already exists. You will never need to save you slate because all your edits are automatically saved. Hover over the node, and you'll find four icons:

Click the icon to create a free-standing node and you'll see this:

Click the icon 2 times to create a connected node and you'll see this:

When creating new nodes or double clicking, you'll see the text-editor appear at the bottom of the canvas:

When you click the node properties icon, you will get this menu:

The four toolbar icons are explained below
Click AND hold the plug icon, then drag it onto other nodes to create associations

Click the delete button to remove the node

Click the edit icon to change the node's text

Click the magnifying glass icon to embed an image in the node

Once clicked, you'll be able to search with the menu that appears below

In addition to the working on the node, you can navigate around the slate in two easy ways:
1 Zoom in and out using the slider on the canvas

2 Move quickly around the node using the birdseye view in the upper-right
